Job Summary
Plan, coordinate, and direct all operational activities within the maintenance department, including general maintenance, minor repairs, fire safety, and scheduled servicing to ensure the Long Term Care Community remains safe. Supervise team members on routine tasks, determine work scope, and manage cost estimates while referring specialized electrical or plumbing issues to outside contractors. Lead recruitment, orientation, and performance management processes for all departmental staff, monitor expenditures, and explain monthly variances to the Executive Director. This role supports Sienna Senior Living's mission to enhance the lives of residents through strong leadership and innovation within our communities.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant post-secondary diploma from a community college such as Building Systems
- A minimum of 3 years' management experience
- Health and Safety Certification (level 1 and 2)
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment, computerized building management systems, electrical systems distribution, fire alarm and sprinkler systems including operation of and testing requirements, emergency diesel generator operations, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret building prints and drawings
- Successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check
- Successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check
