Job Summary
Manage daily operations of the Maintenance Department to ensure efficient, safe, and uninterrupted hotel operations at the 75-room Fairmont Royal Pavilion in Barbados. Lead the engineering team on preventative and corrective maintenance, coordinate capital improvement projects, and oversee contractor performance. Monitor utility consumption, investigate anomalies, and implement energy conservation initiatives to reduce costs. Conduct quality assurance inspections and ensure all facilities comply with luxury brand standards and local regulatory requirements. Respond promptly to emergency situations while managing budgets and leading a diverse team in a demanding environment.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in hotel engineering or facilities maintenance
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably within a luxury hotel or resort
- Experience managing preventative maintenance programmes and building management systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and general building maintenance
- Experience coordinating contractors, renovations, and capital projects
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and hotel regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and building system information
- Financial awareness with experience managing maintenance budgets and utility costs
