Job Summary
Direct maintenance employees on day-to-day operations, including work schedules, and lead repairs on furnaces, cranes, engines, and conveyor systems. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues by dismantling devices, welding with oxyacetylene or MIG torches, and inspecting parts for dimensional changes. Operate mobile equipment, lathe, drill presses, and grinders while ensuring emission control systems and federal documentation compliance. Lubricate, clean, and reassemble defective parts, working aloft with aerial lifts and managing unscheduled production downtime. Requires high school diploma, 1-2 years manufacturing experience, and strong math and problem-solving skills. Steel Dynamics, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 1-2 manufacturing maintenance experience
- Strong verbal skill to communicate with internal and external customers
- Strong writing skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Strong computer skills (working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Advanced mathematical skills
- Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once
- Knowledge in multiple facets of maintenance (IE, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, fabrication, etc.)
