Job Summary
Inspect electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling systems across school locations to ensure adequate ventilation and good working conditions. Perform minor to major repairs on machinery, coordinate athletic field maintenance, and execute general tasks including painting, patching walls, and moving furniture. Respond to emergency calls for security alarms, fire alarms, heat failures, and flooding. Execute snow removal procedures during inclement weather to clear steps, parking lots, and roadways. Maintain all department property and equipment in good order while adhering to District policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- MA. Oil burner and EPA CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSE
- Two years of experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing, mechanical malfunctions or equipment failure
- Considerable knowledge in maintenance supplies, equipment, materials and methods used in maintenance work
- Ability to make repairs to buildings and equipment
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, keep routine records and make reports
- Ability to perform various clean up and maintenance tasks as required
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance in using equipment to complete assigned tasks
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
- Ability to work under inclement weather conditions
