Job Summary
Join ALTA Performance Materials as a Maintenance Mechanic II and play a pivotal role in plant maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and safety. Ideal candidates should have 3-4 years of industrial maintenance experience and basic welding skills, comfortable working in a collaborative environment with a willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-4 year previous work experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic
- Basic Welding, soldering & flame cutting skills
- Knowledgeable in Pipe fitting
- Proficient in the safe use and operation of pipe threading machine, hydraulic press, drill press, hand tools (wrenches, ratchets, crowbars, etc.), saws, etc.
- Must be able to tell apart materials (Carbon vs. Stainless Steels, Galvanized, PVC, etc.) and name fittings (nipples, elbows, unions, etc.)
- Basic understanding of Steam producing systems & applications (traps, condensate pumps, etc.)
- Pump and valve knowledge – must be able to name types used in the plant and understand operation, previous experience disassembling & re-assembling
- Knowledgeable in Pipe sizing and thicknesses.
- Knowledgeable in Flanging and gasketing.
- Knowledgeable in bolting and torquing (Must be able to explain the torquing process)
- Must be comfortable safely working at height, at times with only harness & lanyard
- Good written and verbal communication skills, and mathematical skills
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to work with computers
- Requires minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications
- Post secondary vocational training relevant to industrial maintenance
- Knowledge of safety procedures (i.e.: lockout, line breaking, hot-work and confined space entry)
- Knowledge and Understanding of boilers and cooling systems (Cooling towers, Chillers)
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of Gas Analyzer maintenance and Thermal Oxidizer maintenance
