Job Summary
Coordinate daily maintenance operations by troubleshooting, repairing, and fabricating components for processing equipment using machine shop tools like lathes and welding equipment. Assist the supervisor in directing mechanics, performing preventive maintenance on assigned assets, and maintaining accurate work records while adhering to safety policies. Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, including transmission components and simple electrical troubleshooting, to ensure timely equipment functionality. Requires 12 months of fabrication and mechanical experience, proficiency in welding and boiler systems, and availability for the B shift including weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Twelve months of continuous employment with a single employer within the last 36 months of employment or completion or verifiable formal schooling in specific trade
- Minimum of 12 months experience fabrication and mechanical work
- Must be flexible as hours may vary
- Must be able to communicate clearly via telephone, in person, and in writing
- Must be able to repair transmission components and systems
- Must be proficient in using equipment such as lathe, milling machine, shears, brakes
- Electrical knowledge is required to perform simple trouble shooting of electrical / ARC welding components
- Must be able to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form
- Working knowledge of basic pipe fitting skills and sheet metal techniques
- Basic math skills and the ability to compute ratio, rate, and percentages
- Must be proficient with standard hand tools
- Required to pass a Tyson Basic Safety Test
- Must be self-motivated and able to work without supervision
- Must be available to work weekends
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions

- This facility will not accept applicants that have worked for Tyson Foods 3 or more times
- This facility accepts rehires after 180 days
- Certain roles at Tyson require background checks
Desired Qualifications
- Welding, boiler, and electrical experience preferred

- Knowledge of boilers and steam components helpful
- Welding and gas cutting skills helpful
