Job Summary
Maintenance Generalist responsible for troubleshooting, repair, fabrication, and preventive maintenance of facility equipment. Performs mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting, responds to equipment breakdowns, prepares written documentation of actions taken, and ensures a safe work environment in compliance with Tyson policies. Performs preventive maintenance per schedule, starts up and shuts down equipment, and may assist other mechanics. Requires ability to read/write basic reports and paperwork (SAP and logs), and to operate under varied temperatures with physical tasks such as lifting up to 100 lbs and climbing. This is a 3rd-shift (overnight) role at the Storm Lake plant, with emphasis on safety compliance, documentation, and teamwork in a manufacturing setting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of industrial maintenance experience
- At least 6 months of continuous work history with the same employer within the last 24 months or recent technical school/training within the last 24 months
- Ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- Capable of diagnosing and repairing equipment without supervision
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and ability to complete on-the-job paperwork (SAP, equipment tracking logs, daily equipment check sheets)
- Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Ability to work in varied temperatures and conditions (dusty, warm, cold, humid)
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, bending, climbing, etc.)
- Compliance with safety policies and procedures
- Completed paperwork and reports and ability to start/stop equipment for production
- Must be able to communicate effectively with hourly team members and management
- Ability to adhere to Tyson safety rules
- High attention to safety and OSHA-related practices
