Job Summary
Maintenance & Engineering Superintendent responsible for the day-to-day management of vessel maintenance and engineering requirements for the Seaspan Ferries fleet, on-site at Delta. Leads shore-based maintenance and engineering teams, coordinates unscheduled and scheduled maintenance, drydock planning and vessel improvements, and manages budgets and capital projects. Ensures safety, reliability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across hull, machinery, and systems while collaborating with Operations, Commercial, Purchasing, shipboard personnel, contractors, class, and flag authorities. Develops and implements maintenance programs, provides technical guidance, and leads training and succession planning to maintain operational readiness and minimize downtime.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in relevant discipline or successful completion of an apprenticeship program qualifying as a Power, Stationary or Marine Engineer
- Marine Certificate of Competency preferred
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in mechanical repair environments or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical specifications and drawings
- Understanding of marine legislation and regulatory requirements for operations
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Project and program management capabilities
- Mentorship and training abilities
- Ability to lead safety-focused operations and ensure compliance with union agreements and health and safety procedures
