Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary

Plan and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure on-time completion while minimizing downtime through effective troubleshooting of control systems and circuitry. Attend breakdowns, monitor and record downtime data, and perform engineering appraisals of equipment to identify inefficiencies and quantify causes for improvement. Enter accurate daily feedback into the CMMS system, source required parts, and maintain workshop stock levels. Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure compliance with security policies and raise purchase orders as needed. Conduct general housekeeping, obtain utility readings, and test weekly fire alarms. Work closely with the Shift Supervisor and Manufacturing Manager to achieve production objectives while maintaining a proactive safety approach.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Formal apprenticeship or equivalent in relevant field (electrical or mechanical) e.g. HND/HNC C&G 17th Edition qualification (for electrical maintenance role)
  • High standard of knowledge in appropriate field (electrical/ mechanical)
  • FLT/Mobile Platform license
  • Trained to minimum Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Ideally qualified to degree level in an engineering or related discipline
  • Experience of pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Multi-skilled
  • Knowledge and experience of PLC systems
  • Ability to analyse and solve complex problems
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Competent IT skills including outlook, windows and excel
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to work effectively in a team and on own initiative
  • Able to work on own initiative to plan and organise work in line with business priorities
  • Able to work calmly and effectively when under pressure

Desired Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Black belt preferred
  • Ideally qualified to degree level in an engineering or related discipline
  • Experience of pneumatics and hydraulics
