Job Summary
Conduct maintenance and repairs on building grounds, fixed portable equipment, and installation systems under minimal supervision. Perform general maintenance, plant operations, and preventive maintenance tasks, escalating complex repairs to the next level. Inspect systems to detect problems, read blueprints, and analyze situations to develop effective courses of action. Maintain records, prepare reports, and stay current on skills through self-study programs and recognized trade training. Requires HS Diploma or GED, one year of relevant experience, and basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- 1 year recent relevant experience
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to organize/ prioritize work
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English Language
- Basic knowledge of air-conditioning, refrigeration and heating control systems, including air balance and system calibration procedures for repair and maintenance
- Basic knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and procedures for repair and maintenance
- Basic knowledge of uniform electrical and building codes
- Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building and mechanical trades
- Ability to inspect systems and buildings to detect existing or potential problems
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Ability to analyze situations and develop an effective course of action
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations as required by the job
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports
- Continuing Education, keeps skill set current in the Facilities Maintenance by participating is self-study programs, and training made available by recognized groups in the trade such as Center for Studies in Higher Education (CSHE), ASHE, International Facility Management Association (IFMA), & Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA)
