Job Summary
Support day-to-day performance of equipment to ensure safe operations and meet regulatory requirements by diagnosing, repairing, and testing mechanical, electrical, rotating equipment, and hydraulic issues. Lead mechanical field changes and manage the management of change process for capital and maintenance projects while improving asset availability through criticality assessments and preventive maintenance development. Inspect field equipment installations during unit outages and upgrades, collaborate with vendors and contractors on debottlenecking efforts, and provide after-hours emergency support. Lead reliability initiatives and participate in hazard reviews such as HAZOPs and troubleshooting sessions. This Mechanical Engineer role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in the oil and gas refining industry, located in Bakersfield, CA, with a salary range of $96K to $137K.
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineer Degree
- Experience using it out on the field
- Minimum 3 years
- 10-15 years would be ideal
- Experience with Oil + Gas (refinfery industry)
- Reliability equipment
- as built - already in the facility, may need upgrades, etc.
- Located: Bakersfield, CA
- Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
- Proven ability to provide mechanical engineering support for capital & maintenance projects
- Familiarity with applicable health and safety regulations
- Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products
- BS Mechanical Engineering degree
- A minimum of 3+ years of mechanical engineering operations support experience in petrochemical, refining, and/or renewable fuels processing
- Experience with industry standard project management practices
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
- Ability to work in confined spaces and wear self-contained breathing apparatus
- Must be able to climb ladders and or stairs on tanks, vessels and structures
