Job Summary
Maintenance Engineer III responsible for advanced maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex healthcare infrastructure including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, and emergency power systems. Leads maintenance projects, ensures regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, OSHA, fire safety), mentors junior engineers, conducts rounds of equipment rooms, coordinates with departments and vendors, responds to alarms and security events, utilizes CMMS for work orders and inventory, and maintains documentation for audits; emphasizes reliability and safety of critical systems and off-hours coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree or formal training in facility maintenance, mechanical systems, or related field (preferred)
- 5-7 years in facilities maintenance with minimum 3 years in healthcare/hospital environment
- 1-2 years of expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems (preferred)
- Proficiency with CMMS for work orders and inventory tracking
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, OSHA, and fire safety codes
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills for junior technicians
- Ability to work independently and in a dynamic healthcare environment
- Licensed maintenance certifications (as applicable: steam boiler, refrigeration, electrician, plumber, Freon safety)
- New Mexico: Medical Gas Certification or Pipefitter Certification preferred
