Maintenance Engineer Co-Op/Intern - Summer 2027

Job Summary
Support operations and maintenance to improve equipment reliability through technical drawing reviews, field tours, and mechanical failure support. Lead and implement safety improvement projects while defining project scope and managing change processes. Design, size, and validate new or modified equipment and piping, providing technical support for inspections and obtaining specifications from drawings and manuals. Complete engineering requests from operations and maintenance teams, communicate with management, plant operators, engineers, and contractors, and participate in department meetings. Work full-time (36-40 hours/week) on a 9/80 schedule at the Esterhazy underground potash mine, assisting other engineers on major projects focused on equipment performance and engineering support.
Required Qualifications
- Junior level or above by May 2027
- pursuing a bachelor's in Industrial Systems Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Mining Engineer, Process Engineer, Environmental Systems Engineer
- 72% or higher
- TWIC Card or ability to get a TWIC card
- Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment
- Reliable transportation
- valid driver's license
- Ability to travel to and from sites and/or office
- Ability to work full time
- be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship
- successfully complete post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening

Desired Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work
- Previous internship or co-op experience
- Familiarity with an industrial environment
- Effective verbal communication skills
