Job Summary
Install, connect, maintain, repair, modify, and troubleshoot electrical wiring lines, fixtures, distribution panels, power circuits, and control equipment under general direction. Lead most work assignments as a journeyman electrician, performing complex tasks involving repair and modification of electrical distribution lines with little supervisory guidance. Execute preventative maintenance on motors, solar systems, and HVAC units including boilers and air handlers while inspecting work for code compliance. Complete estimates, order supplies, and fill out work order forms to manage project costs and schedules.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- four year of progressive responsible journeyman level commercial or residential electrical installing and repair experience
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code
- Knowledge of technical electrical contracting methods, practices and procedures
- Knowledge of the repair of electrical motors and systems
- Knowledge of the building codes and regulations related to electrical installation
- knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations and practices
- knowledge of equipment, supplies and specialty tools related to electrician trade
- Knowledge of sources of supply, prices, and grades and qualities of a variety of materials, supplies and equipment
- Knowledge of project management and cost estimation
- Skills in safely installing, repairing and replacing electrical wiring systems
- Skills in safely utilizing a variety of power and hand tools
- Skill in estimating costs of materials and labor
- Skill in scheduling and managing projects
- Skills in inspecting electrical work for compliance with National Electrical Code
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of electrical variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to regularly talk and hear
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, operate power tools or controls
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend and sit
- Ability to climb or balance and stoop or kneel
- Ability to occasionally climb ladders
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to ten pounds
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds
