Maintenance Electrician

Job Summary
Conduct operational status checks and repair, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, and environmental controls. Diagnose faults in electrical systems and ancillary equipment, then replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and wiring. Assist with parts storage, inventory, general HVAC/maintenance, and plumbing duties as required. Develop training programs for teammates and comply with all safety guidelines, work orders, and contract specifications. This role involves working independently with limited supervision, often inside or outside in varying conditions, including potential weekend shifts and overtime. A government security clearance is required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years' experience in electrical maintenance and repair
- Previous experience in an industrial/commercial environment
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to read blueprints, building plans and schematics
- Ability to read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification, or installation of equipment
- Ability to use a variety of power tools, hand tools, measuring and testing instruments, and meters safely
- Proficiency in Microsoft Products, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent customer service skills
- Hands-on ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
- Ability to comply with all policies, safety guidelines, and procedures
- Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance
- Ability to follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures
- Government security clearance or ability to obtain upon hire
- HS Diploma or GED
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Ability to work both inside and outside, sometimes in inclement weather conditions
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to reach, bend, push, pull, climb, kneel, and balance
- Significant hand and finger dexterity
- Ability to work in tight/confined spaces
- Ability to use/carry ladders, lift, and climb up to 30ft. in length
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to remain at work location or report to work during institutional emergencies
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in an industrial/commercial environment
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- Electrical License
- Universal Refrigerant License
