Job Summary
Maintenance Electrician – Mobile Equipment responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems on a heavy mobile mining fleet (including ultra-class haul trucks, electric rope shovel, drills, and support vehicles). Requires expertise in high-voltage DC/AC drive systems, autonomous vehicle interfaces, and industrial electrical systems in open-pit mining. Performs preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting of PLCs, VFDs, and motor control centers; supports FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System electronics; collaborates with OEMs on software updates and diagnostics; maintains CMMS records; adheres to MSHA/NFPA 70E safety standards; mentors apprentices; participates in commissioning and equipment upgrades; seeks continuous electrical system improvements.### Education/Certifications: Journeyman Electrician license (MN or equivalent), Associate’s degree/technical diploma preferred; minimum 5 years industrial/mining electrical experience with at least 2 years on heavy mobile equipment.### Work Environment: open-pit mining in northern Minnesota with high-voltage systems up to 7,200V; rotating shifts; on-site operations with strict safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician license (Minnesota or equivalent state)
- Associate's degree or technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Industrial Electronics, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an industrial or mining electrician, with at least 2 years on heavy mobile mining equipment
- Experience with high-voltage systems (480V–7,200V) and safe work practices in high-voltage environments
- Experience with PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) and VFD troubleshooting
- Experience on Komatsu electric drive haul trucks (930E series or equivalent) or similar ultra-class mining trucks
- Familiarity with autonomous haulage systems (Komatsu FrontRunner AHS or similar)
- CMMS experience (SAP PM, Maximo, or equivalent)
- MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 training certification
- Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, and mining industry safety standards
- Experience with electric rope shovels (P&H, Bucyrus, Caterpillar) or similar equipment
- Reading and interpretation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
- Valid driver's license to operate light-duty vehicles on mine site
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
