Job Summary

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and automation equipment in industrial and heavy commercial environments. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime while diagnosing complex faults using multimeters, meggers, and thermal imaging tools. Work with medium and low voltage systems up to 480V or higher, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code, OSHA standards, and Utah state regulations. Collaborate with multi-trade teams during equipment upgrades and shutdowns, providing guidance to lower-level electricians and participating in root cause analysis for electrical failures. Respond to emergency calls outside normal hours as part of a coverage rotation. Work a 4-10 schedule with swing shifts and graves as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Utah Journeyman Electrician License (required; must be maintained in good standing through DOPL)
  • Minimum 5–7+ years of verifiable experience as a licensed Journeyman Electrician in industrial or heavy commercial environments
  • Valid Utah driver's license and a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including PLC programming/troubleshooting, motor controls, variable frequency drives, and data acquisition systems
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and P&IDs
  • Physical ability to work in industrial settings (standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, confined spaces, and varying temperatures)
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be available for swing shift
  • Must be available for graveyard shifts
  • Must be able to work a 4-10 schedule

Desired Qualifications

  • Master Electrician license
  • Technical degree, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent
  • Experience with specific industrial controls (e.g. Allen-Bradley, or similar)
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, and CMMS software
  • Leadership or mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of Utah-specific regulations and industrial safety standards
  • Welding, rigging, or basic mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems
