Job Summary
Oversee all aspects of facility maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and building structures, while coordinating maintenance staff, groundskeepers, and housekeeping personnel. Recruit, hire, train, and mentor team members, assigning tasks, providing performance feedback, and establishing schedules to ensure quality work and regulatory compliance. Conduct regular inspections of the facility and equipment to identify hazards, develop preventive maintenance programs, and manage inventory and supplies. Respond promptly to maintenance requirements and emergencies, troubleshooting issues and collaborating with nursing, administration, and dietary departments to support resident care. Coordinate with external contractors for specialized services and address complaints regarding maintenance quality.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in facility maintenance, including 6 months in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting
- Experience with TELS or similar software
- Previous experience in healthcare facilities maintenance/ skilled trades
- Strong technical knowledge and skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general building maintenance
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards governing facility maintenance and environment health
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the facility for extended periods
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and operate equipment, tools, and machinery
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for performing maintenance tasks, using hand tools, and operation equipment
- Visual acuity and auditory ability to assess equipment, read maintenance manuals, and communicate effectively with staff
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to access equipment, perform repairs, and maintain facility infrastructure
- Ability to work at heights, including climbing ladders and accessing rooftop equipment, as needed
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager
