Job Summary
Conduct daily inspections of the property's outside grounds and immediately correct needed items to ensure the facility remains tour-ready. Oversee the general operating maintenance, repair, and housekeeping of the physical plant, including electrical, plumbing, structural, and painting duties. Demonstrate mechanical ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment such as washer/extractors, refrigeration units, ice machines, and minor plumbing issues. Plan, order, and install cabinets for apartment remodeling while repairing sheetrock and structural materials. Prioritize tasks in stressful situations to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be knowledgeable and capable of self-teaching regarding troubleshooting, identifying a problem, and obtaining materials to fully repair electrical difficulties including but not limited to wall switches, interior/exterior lighting, cover plates, receptacles, loose wiring, resident call systems, control devices, laundry, and kitchen equipment
- Must be knowledgeable and capable of self-teaching regarding planning, ordering, and installing cabinets for remodeling of apartments. Performing carpentry duties such as repairing or replacing sheetrock, plywood, and/or structural materials
- Must be knowledgeable and capable of self-teaching to include but not limited to planning, ordering, and performing painting requirements (interior/exterior) of the entire complex
- Must be knowledgeable and capable of self-teaching regarding planning, ordering, and performing minor plumbing problems including but not limited to repairing faucets, showers, drains, and any other type of plumbing-related problem
- Must be able to safely operate a wide variety of equipment and tools
- Must have knowledge of and/or ability to learn the theory and practice of assisted living and dementia care
- Must be able to work with seniors and patiently interact with cognitively impaired individuals
- Must be able to be flexible, adapt and respond to change, make decisions in stressful situations, and prioritize tasks and projects
- Must pass a Criminal Background check and Health Screening tests, including physical and TB Tests
- Must be able to vaccinate, participate in daily screening, surveillance testing, and to wear face coverings and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 or other communicable diseases
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer two (2) years experience in the building industry, maintenance and/or housekeeping handling the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and structural matters
- Knowledge of building construction is helpful
- Prefer one (1) year of experience supervising and managing employees
