Maintenance Director

Job Summary

Lead the district's maintenance department by providing daily supervision while actively performing skilled repairs in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance. Plan, assign, and inspect projects to ensure safety and efficiency, then develop preventative maintenance programs that minimize disruption to instructional activities. Oversee grounds, athletic facilities, and the Integrated Pest Management program, while coordinating vendors, managing inventory, and responding to emergencies and after-hours callouts. Ensure full compliance with OSHA standards and state regulations, assist with budget management, and support facility improvements. Maintain a safe, functional environment for students and staff.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Texas Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Certification
  • Minimum of five (5) years of commercial, industrial, or institutional maintenance experience
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory or lead maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance
  • Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Climb ladders, work on rooftops, and operate maintenance equipment
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb for extended periods
  • Work outside normal business hours and respond to emergency maintenance situations when needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in K-12 public school maintenance
  • Trade certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields
  • Experience managing preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience with work order and maintenance management systems
  • Strong leadership with a willingness to work alongside staff
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve a wide variety of facility maintenance issues
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to emergencies
  • Working knowledge of building systems, maintenance best practices, and applicable safety regulations
  • Commitment to maintaining safe, clean, and attractive facilities for students, staff, and the community
