Maintenance Director Assistant

Job Summary

Oversee all mechanical and structural aspects of the physical plant, including plumbing, boilers, burners, heating, and electrical system upgrades. Ensure full compliance with safety, sanitary, health, and fire codes while leading the creation and execution of the Emergency Preparedness Plan. Recruit, coach, and inspire a skilled maintenance team, manage departmental budgets, and set schedules for staff and contractors. Regularly inspect buildings and grounds to ensure proper repair and safety. Availability to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of plant engineering or skilled trades experience
  • Trade school graduate and/or licensed journeyman mechanic preferred
  • A strong track record of safety, regulatory compliance, and ethical maintenance practices
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams
  • Clear, confident communication skills and proficiency in English (written and verbal)
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
  • Availability to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours
  • Expertise in cost estimation, blueprint reading, and writing technical specifications

Desired Qualifications

  • Trade school graduate and/or licensed journeyman mechanic preferred
