Job Summary
Custodian/Maintenance Technician role at Assumption High School specializing in routine cleaning and building/grounds upkeep. The position combines cleaning duties with maintenance tasks including minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs; maintaining mechanical systems (boilers, A/C, water heaters); coordinating with inspectors and service providers (fire alarms, water sprinklers, pest control, radon and water testing, asbestos management); and seasonal site tasks (snow removal, gutter/roof inspection, landscaping). Requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with carpentry and repairs, ability to use power and hand tools, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work flexible hours. Must communicate effectively with students, staff, and external partners. Location is Davenport, Iowa, with daytime hours supervised by the Principal and Director of Maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with general carpentry, repairs, and the safe use of power and hand tools
- Active and clear driver’s license
- Willingness to work flexible hours and perform physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 75 lbs)
- Effective communicator with both children and adults
