Job Summary
Maintenance/Construction Technician III performs facility maintenance and repairs in state-owned buildings across North Carolina, requiring journey-level ability in at least two trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, or plastering). May work at various facilities; may be required for after-hours emergencies, weekends, and holidays; must understand building codes, read blueprints, estimate repair value, supervise skilled/semiskilled contractors, and maintain routine records with a computer. EPA certification may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High school or GED diploma; two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; ability to read blueprints; experience in electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, roofing, locks, windows, plumbing, and mechanical equipment; EPA technician certification (Type I, II, or Universal) may be required by Title 40 CFR Part 82; willingness to overtime or be on call for emergencies
