Job Summary
Supervisory, administrative and para-engineering to full engineering work in the management of routine construction, maintenance, repair operations for a moderate to large number and variety of buildings and structures. This position directs, supervise, plan and evaluates the work of subordinates. Work includes making the final technical decision in a wide variety of trades, administering the work order system, directing the preventive maintenance program, requisitioning and purchasing material and supplies. Positions are responsible for inspecting the facility regularly for maintenance needs and safety hazards, and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences include thorough knowledge of repair, maintenance and construction techniques, building codes, environmental rules, ability to read schematics/blueprints, sketch or draft technical drawings, estimate repair and construction projects, train, direct and supervise subordinates, and establish effective working relationships. This Position Is Exempt and Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act; designations include mandatory to report during adverse weather events; familiarity with vaccination policy and related compliance. The role requires collaboration within the State of North Carolina public healthcare facilities and adherence to applicable regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in construction or facility maintenance including three (3) years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology, Industrial Maintenance Technology, or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and six (6) years progressive experience in construction or facility maintenance including three (3) years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience
