Job Summary
Assist journey-level craftsmen in completing work activities, including installing, servicing, and retrofitting commercial steel door frames, hollow metal doors, and hardware such as closures, hinges, and entry systems. Conduct onsite assessments, measure, modify steel frames, fabricate parts, and build temporary partitions to adapt facilities. Diagnose security system malfunctions, duplicate keys, and coordinate projects with district personnel and contractors to ensure material availability. Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment, doors, and fixtures, respond to emergency situations, and assist with snow removal using shovels, snow blowers, and plows. Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites while maintaining work areas and tools in safe operating condition.
Required Qualifications
- Current drivers license
- Ability to operate equipment used in trade including general hand and power tools, saws, threaders, manlift, forklift, etc.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures; and health standards and hazards
- Ability to adapt to changing work priorities; and meeting deadlines and schedules
- High school diploma or equivalent
