Job Summary
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Junior High buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems. Troubleshoot issues and complete work involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, painting, flooring, roofing, and general building maintenance. Safely operate district vehicles, equipment, power tools, and machinery while responding to maintenance requests and emergency situations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and assist with grounds maintenance, snow removal, furniture moves, and event setup. Follow all district safety procedures, applicable codes, and established maintenance practices. Participate in on-call or emergency maintenance responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in maintenance, construction, mechanical repair, or a skilled trade
- Valid Indiana driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicles
- Experience in one or more skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical repair, construction, or building maintenance
- Is naturally curious and enjoys diagnosing problems
- Takes ownership of their work and follows projects through to completion
- Is dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Works well independently while also being a strong team player
- Communicates professionally with staff, students, vendors, and community members
- Is adaptable and willing to help wherever needed, even outside their primary trade
- Values safety and consistently follows safe work practices
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a positive attitude every day
- Takes pride in maintaining facilities that reflect positively on our schools and community
- Is committed to continuous learning and developing new skills
- Must be able to safely operate tools and equipment
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
