Maintenance Branch Manager

Job Summary
Direct, plan, organize, and coordinate activities for the Maintenance Branch staff, including a fabrication shop, vector control team, and heavy equipment operations. Establish and monitor quality control processes to ensure high work standards and accountability. Collaborate with County departments to manage budgets, prepare reports, and requisition tools and materials. Supervise two O&M Supervisors and 60+ indirect reports across four locations, developing performance plans and addressing deficiencies. Manage 24-hour operations and execute emergency responses to flooding incidents, including storm damage. Evaluate daily activities to recommend improvements and address public inquiries.
Required Qualifications
- Seven years of experience in skilled construction or maintenance
- Two years of supervisory experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Arizona driver's license
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Demonstrated supervisory experience within a maintenance department, shop setting, and/or fleet management
- Demonstrated supervisory experience in public works construction or maintenance with storm water facility repair programs and projects
- Experience providing leadership to a workgroup consisting of 50+ personnel
- Experience preparing budgets for similar workgroups and/or project cost estimating
- Emergency response experience and working with Emergency Management Offices (FEMA, ADEM, or MCDEM)
- Must be able to work in a normal, indoor office environment and occasionally outdoors or driving a vehicle
- Must have manual dexterity of hands and body to operate office equipment
- Must be able to manage frequent interruptions, time pressures, high work volumes, multiple and complicated tasks, unscheduled tasks, team-oriented activities, prompt decision-making, and interaction with government officials and the public
- Must constantly maintain concentration, accuracy, ethical behavior, and a professional demeanor
- Ability to lift and carry heavier materials to ensure an effective flood control response and community safety
- Experience with Microsoft applications such as Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Experience with materials/inventory tracking software
- 4X4 vehicle, winch, and miscellaneous hand tool experience
- Experience with various shop tools and equipment, including welding fabrication tools, overhead crane, and forklift
- Ability to wear hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, long pants, and OSHA standards
- Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation
- Must pass drug and alcohol testing requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
