Job Summary
Maintenance Associate at e4c responsible for safe, functional housing, offices, and community spaces across apartments, shelters, group homes, and offices. Perform general maintenance and repairs (painting, drywall, flooring, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC), conduct safety inspections, respond to work orders, assist with preventative maintenance and inventory, support groundskeeping (snow removal, lawn care), coordinate with contractors and vendors, and advise supervisors on upcoming issues within budget. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, building operator certificate (or equivalent), valid Class 5 license, vehicle and insurance, 2+ years maintenance experience, ability to work in diverse, inner-city environments, and strong communication skills. On-call rotation and potential weekend/short-notice shifts. Benefits include salary of $54,080, generous vacation, sick days, health spending account, RRSP matching, and development opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Building operator certificate or equivalent
- Completion of a relevant technical or trade certification is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle
- Proof of vehicle insurance (min. $2 million liability), registration and 3-year drivers abstract
- 2+ years of experience in general maintenance, building operations, or building repairs
- Experience working in inner-city environments and with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, addictions, or low income
- Working knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry) and handyman skills
- Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and small equipment (lawn mowers, snow blowers, sweepers)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and basic computer skills (MS Office)
