Job Summary
Maintenance Assistant provides ongoing preventative maintenance and resident assistance, building and grounds maintenance, troubleshooting maintenance problems and various related tasks. Performs most tasks independently with occasional assistance of outside vendor. Responds to maintenance emergencies outside regular hours. Emphasizes safety awareness and infection control as applicable; requires self-motivation, the ability to set priorities, and a courteous, respectful demeanor toward residents, families, staff and visitors. Prior maintenance experience and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electricity, and mechanics are required; valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience in building maintenance
- Knowledge of Plumbing, including but not limited to design/mechanics of commodes, plumbing fixtures, drains, discharge lines, hot water heaters, dishwashers, ice machines, etc.
- HVAC knowledge including general principles of HVAC and heat pump operation/mechanics, and refrigeration
- Electricity knowledge including but not limited to wiring, voltage, amperage
- Mechanics knowledge including design/operation of engines
- Valid driver’s license; clean driving record with no major violations
