Maintenance Assistant

Job Summary

Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand and power tools while performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines and building systems operate efficiently. Diagnose mechanical problems by checking blueprints and repair manuals, then inspect, operate, and test machinery to identify malfunctions. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, and gears; adjust functional parts with levels and straightedges. Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, and drywall. Manage facility plumbing, relocate lifts, and change out bulbs as needed. Assist the EVS Department with daily, discharge, and isolation room cleaning, disinfection, laundry processing, and hard floor care. Pressure clean facility areas and utilize Building Engines to complete all work order requests. Participate as a member of the Life Safety and Disaster Team in this 24/7 post-acute setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to assist EVS Department in duties including patient area daily room cleaning, discharge cleaning, isolation cleaning, disinfection and chemical use, laundry processing, rover/public area cleaning, office/ancillary cleaning, hard floor care, carpet care, and ALF weekly unit cleaning service
  • Must be able to repair beds and furnishings
  • Must be able to change out facility bulbs when needed
  • Must be able to manage plumbing for facility
  • Must be able to relocate lifts as needed
  • Must be able to pressure clean facility areas as needed and instructed
  • Must be able to utilize Building Engines to complete all work order requests
  • Must be able to participate as a member of Life Safety and Disaster Team

Desired Qualifications

  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in a maintenance or similar role
  • Licensed/Certified in air conditioning, heating or two technical trades related in electrical and plumbing
