Job Summary
Perform assigned duties related to electricity, plumbing, carpentry, mechanics, and heating, cooling, and water systems. Maintain grounds, parking lots, and driveways, including snow and ice removal. Handle incoming and outgoing freight, lift heavy furniture and equipment, and drive the company vehicle as needed. Respond to changing situations by reprioritizing work and take off-hours calls on evenings and weekends. Arrive on time, practice confidentiality of resident information, and adhere to safety rules and standards. Generate ideas to improve quality of care and attend facility meetings. This role supports resident and staff safety within Elderwood at Cheektowaga's plant operations team.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Minimum one (1) year of related work experience in field such as maintenance, carpentry, contracting, etc.
- Current, valid driver license
- Participation in facility on-call program which may include working 'off-hours'
- Experienced in equipment operation such as small hand tools, electric tools, lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.
- HS diploma or equivalent preferred
- Display of genuine concern for the elderly; a dependable, patient and compassionate attitude towards residents
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level
