Job Summary
Maintenance Assistant provides quality maintenance functions to the facility in accordance with Life Care standards. Responsibilities include assisting with preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements; inspecting equipment and systems for proper functioning and safety; running errands and handling freight; providing patient-focused service and assisting in patient evacuation; maintaining attendance and teamwork; applying knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and understanding local building codes and regulations relevant to a post-acute care facility. Must have a valid driver’s license and strong communication in English; commitment to confidentiality and compliance with Life Care policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year maintenance experience preferred
- Proven knowledge of various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems preferred
- Knowledge of local building codes and ordinance preferred
- Valid driver’s license in current State with satisfactory driving record per Life Care standards
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility
- Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: patient rights, and safety and sanitation
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
- Essential functions: Assist with preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacements; Inspect equipment/systems regularly for proper functioning and safety; Run errands, handle incoming and outgoing freight, and lift and move heavy furniture and equipment; Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients; Assist in the evacuation of patients; Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance; Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment; Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team; Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours; Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
