Job Summary
The Maintenance Assistant I will oversee maintenance and janitorial duties at the Harbor Light Center, inspecting buildings, grounds, and equipment; performing minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC repairs; diagnosing and fixing lighting, heating, cooling, and appliance issues; coordinating with subcontractors and janitorial staff; preparing rooms for move in/out and inspections; maintaining safety and compliance; generating maintenance reports; tracking repairs, room turnover, and projects; and supporting emergency planning. Needs include a high school diploma or equivalent, CA driver’s license, at least 1 year of maintenance experience, OSHA, First Aid/CPR, TB clearance, ability to work after hours/weekends, and strong organizational and communication skills; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Valid CA driver's license (required)
- Experience in building maintenance and repair work (1 year required)
- OSHA Safety Certification (within first ninety days of employment – company provided)
- First Aid and CPR certification (within first seven days of employment – company provided)
- Tuberculosis clearance (within first fourteen days of employment – company provided)
