Job Summary
Maintenance Assistant performs semi-skilled manual tasks related to the maintenance and repair of the building and grounds, equipment, and appliances in the community, under directions from the Maintenance Director. Responsibilities include operating tools and machines, ordering materials, making repairs, moving furniture, reviewing maintenance logs/work orders, performing preventative maintenance, painting surfaces, maintaining exterior grounds, basic electrical work (changing light bulbs), transporting residents in the community vehicle, assisting with vehicle maintenance, and supporting resident safety drills. Requires HS Diploma or GED, two years maintenance experience, knowledge of building maintenance practices, detail orientation, ability to follow verbal/written instructions, teamwork, confidentiality, physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and flexibility to work weekends/holidays. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years previous maintenance experience
- Knowledge of building maintenance practices and materials
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
- Ability to complete assignments thoroughly and on time
- Ability to work well with others as part of a team
- Polite and courteous to residents, visitors, co-workers and management
- Maintain resident confidentiality
- Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, grasp, push and pull for extended periods
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and carry heavy objects for up to 50 feet
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
