Job Summary
Maintenance Assistant needed to support the Maintenance Director in the community’s physical plant. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance and repairs across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, refrigeration, and other technical areas, ensuring compliance with life-safety codes, maintaining safe operating practices, and supporting resident safety and comfort. The role requires at least 3 years of maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and knowledge of mechanical/electrical/refrigeration and relevant safety codes. On-call availability for emergencies is required; duties include grounds upkeep, facility upkeep, light maintenance in high areas, and assisting with move-out readiness and routine facility tests such as fire alarm and emergency systems. Strong customer-service orientation and ability to collaborate with staff, Residents, management, and families are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a maintenance related position
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and building and fire safety codes
- Experience with maintenance equipment
- Basic building and equipment maintenance skills
- Ability to handle on-call emergencies
- Willingness to perform diverse maintenance tasks (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, etc.)
