Job Summary
Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and inspections across buildings, classrooms, playgrounds, grounds, and vehicles. Respond to assigned maintenance requests promptly, complete tasks involving plumbing, electrical fixtures, carpentry, and groundskeeping, and safely operate hand tools, power tools, and lawn equipment. Transport equipment, supplies, and employees between Children's Harbor locations as needed. Maintain accurate work order records, ensure tools are secured, and report safety concerns or property damage requiring licensed contractors. Assist with snow and ice removal, storm debris, and emergency responses during inclement weather. Follow all safety procedures and licensing requirements while working around children, families, and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Virginia Driver's License
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely lift, carry, move, or position items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and work at moderate heights
- Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and agency vehicles
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete assignments with limited supervision

- Ability to communicate and interact appropriately with children and adults
- Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and determine when a repair requires assistance from a licensed professional
- Must be able to travel between Children's Harbor locations as assigned

- Must complete required safety, child protection, and agency training within the designated timeframes
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, groundskeeping, custodial services, or a related field
