Maintenance Aide

Job Summary
Scrub mops, wax, and polish floors; dispose of waste paper; and clean lavatories while replenishing supplies. Sweep sidewalks, repair minor surfaces, and assist experienced workers on window screens, doors, and general building repairs. Replace light fixtures, make minor plumbing fixes, and clear soil lines. Move furniture and appliances, deliver supplies, and operate snow removal equipment. Maintain curb appeal by keeping exterior and interior areas clean, free of hazards, and ensuring timely repairs. Attend workshops and seminars to stay current on job requirements. Provide excellent customer service and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing and arithmetic
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, polishing machines, and other janitorial equipment
- Demonstrated knowledge of the appropriate use of cleaning materials
- Must independently lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis
- Extensive exposure to all kinds of weather
- Extended heavy lifting required to move stoves and refrigerators up four stories with 2-person team
- Extensive walking, climbing and crawling required
- Routinely exposed to chemical cleaning agents, including over cleaner, floor stripper and other caustic chemicals
