Job Summary
System Administrator role for IBM z/OS mainframe environments. Lead z/OS programming initiatives, manage SMP/E upgrades, administer JES2/JES3, and support CICS, DB2, IMS, and MQ subsystems. Responsibilities include performance tuning, capacity planning, root-cause analysis of critical incidents, security/compliance adherence, disaster recovery integration, and collaboration with vendors and stakeholders. Opportunity to mentor team members, drive modernization efforts, and participate in DevOps/hybrid initiatives within a diverse, client-facing mainframe operations context.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of IBM z/OS system programming experience
- SMP/E installation, maintenance, and upgrade management
- JES2/JES3 administration and operations
- DASD, DFSMS, HSM storage knowledge
- CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ subsystems support
- Performance tuning and capacity planning
- Root cause analysis for critical incidents
- Scripting in Shell, REXX, or CLIST
- Automation and scheduling on z/OS
- Security administration and compliance on z/OS
- Disaster recovery and high availability concepts
- Vendor coordination and defect resolution
- Leadership in enterprise mainframe operations
