Job Summary
Lead software engineer on the Mainframe stack (COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM) at JPMorganChase within Commercial & Investment Technology. Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex mainframe applications, guiding project planning and delivery, mentoring junior developers, delivering secure production code, driving automation and SDLC practices, and engaging with external vendors and internal teams to evaluate architectural approaches. Promotes diversity, inclusion, and a collaborative team culture.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s) - Experience in software development, with a focus on mainframe technologies
- Extensive experience in mainframe development, including proficiency in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery of technology initiatives
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods. Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Practical cloud native experience
- Experience in the financial services industry is preferred
- Experience with additional mainframe tools and technologies is a plus
- Prior experience in people management or team leadership roles
