Job Summary
Monitor production operating systems and devices, manage Level 1 batch support including JCL skills, and execute recovery procedures for production subsystems such as IMS, CICS, and DB2. Perform root cause analysis and resolution for production systems, resolve batch scheduling conflicts, and execute automated startup and shutdown of the production operating system. Check systems for outstanding messages and batch abends, scan batch output to identify failure causes, and escalate issues appropriately. Utilize Zeke Tool knowledge to develop support system management processes specific to customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience in Mainframe Operations
- Manage Level 1 Batch Support including JCL skills
- Manage production operating system resource availability
- Monitor production operating system, and devices
- Perform root cause analysis, resolution and / or escalation for production systems (this does not include business applications)
- Execute recovery procedures for production operating systems and devices
- Perform automated startup and shutdown of the production operating system
- Execute production subsystem (e.g. IMS, CICS, DB2, IDMS) started tasks restarts
- Should have Zeke Tool knowledge
- Monitor scheduled batch jobs
- Resolve batch scheduling conflicts (non-application) (root cause analysis and change management)

- Check each system for outstanding messages and or batch abends on a regular basis
- Scan batch output to find actual cause of failure
- Able Identify task or issues that can be improved and send ticket to correct team
- Able to determine quickly the severity of a problem and make appropriate escalations
- Ability to communicate effectively and consistently with all levels of the organization, and to work independently without direct supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to details
