Job Summary
The Mail Cargo Agent is responsible for handling, processing, and managing mail cargo movement at the airport. Key responsibilities include loading and unloading mail from aircraft, sorting and organizing mail, ensuring timely dispatch, and adhering to safety protocols. Candidates should have experience in cargo handling, familiarity with sorting procedures, and the ability to operate handling equipment. Additional requirements include strong organizational skills, physical ability to lift heavy items, and flexibility to work various shifts. This role emphasizes teamwork and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Experience in cargo handling, logistics, or a related field
- Familiarity with mail processing and sorting procedures
- Ability to operate cargo handling equipment such as forklifts
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy items
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Comfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and tablets
- Ability to pass a drug screen
- Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
- Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
