Job Summary

Under Radiologist supervision, explain exams, position patients for quality diagnostic images, and administer intravenous/oral contrast safely per policy. Operate department-specific equipment, recognize malfunctions, and follow maintenance protocols to minimize downtime. Utilize proper positioning techniques to maximize image quality, receive verbal orders from licensed practitioners, and assist with special image-guided procedures using sterile technique. Ensure exam rooms are set up correctly, review pre-procedure questionnaires and consent forms, and document clinical information accurately. Move patients on stretchers and wheelchairs, label images, and perform IV injections according to protocols. Provide technical coverage 24 hours a day, seven days per week as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or successful completion program by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) in MRI, or the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) as an MRI technologist (RTMR)
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy (preferred)
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language
  • Be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and ARRT registered in MRI within 1 year of hire
  • Be certified by the American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) in MRI, or the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) as an MRI technologist (RTMR)
  • Be certified by the ARRT in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine and/or have appropriate state licensure and have supervised clinical experience in MRI scanning
  • Have an associate degree in an allied health field or a bachelor's degree and certification in another clinical imaging field and have supervised clinical MRI scanning experience
  • BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire
