Job Summary
Apprentice tool maker and machinist will learn the tool and die trade while performing injection mold maintenance and hands-on machining. Responsibilities include teardown, cleaning, troubleshooting, and reassembly of molds; manual and CNC machining on mills, lathes, and surface grinders; tooling fabrication of fixtures, gauges, and prototype components from engineering drawings; blueprint interpretation and marking of raw materials; precision inspection to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to quality standards; and collaborative prototyping with engineering and production teams. The role offers structured on-the-job training, mentorship, and opportunities for rapid advancement in East Tennessee; first shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM); compensation $22.66/hr; benefits include medical/dental/vision, PTO/holidays, and retirement savings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 1–2 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent hands-on training
- Strong Machining Fundamentals in manual milling and turning
- Basic understanding of CNC operations
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Blueprint reading and interpretation
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools
- Willingness to participate in structured apprenticeship and on-the-job training
- Education or diploma from vocational/technical school (preferred) in precision machining or machine tool technology
