Job Summary
Study blueprints, sketches, and models to visualize products and determine materials and machines for fabricating parts and molds. Operate shop equipment including milling, lathes, precision grinding, and polishing to make parts to print, while controlling machines to smooth surfaces, grind assemblies, and fit mechanisms. Execute advanced manual machining operations such as contouring, engraving, threading, boring, grinding flats, and dressing radii with specified accuracy and timeliness. Utilize CNC skills, CAD/CAM experience, and comprehensive knowledge of gages and precision measuring instruments for inspection. Perform preventative maintenance and repair on injection molds, rebuild hot runner systems, and reverse engineer mold components within time limitations. Apply advanced shop mathematics including trigonometry.
Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry
- Comprehensive knowledge of gages, precision measuring instruments, and all necessary inspection equipment
- CNC skills
- CAD/CAM experience
- Extensive knowledge of detail cutting tool geometry for different cutting tool types and materials
- Able to perform preventative maintenance and repair on injection molds including electrical and hydraulic components
- Able to reverse engineer and manufacture mold components within time limitations
- Able to rebuild complete hot runner systems
- Frequent standing, occasional walking or sitting
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
