Job Summary

Set up, adjust, and operate conventional and CNC machining centers to produce precision parts meeting tight tolerances while running multiple machines for complex production runs. Interpret blueprints and engineering specifications to resolve drawing errors, develop manufacturing processes, and make complex setups with custom holding devices. Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments and perform statistical process control to ensure conformance, then troubleshoot machining problems and maintain equipment calibration. Contribute to lean initiatives, provide guidance on workload priorities, and train less experienced team members. Swing and weekend shift schedules available with full-time employment.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of directly related machining experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Swiss lathes, grinders, manual machining, and mills
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, complex drawings, and engineering specifications
  • Proven ability to make and evaluate precision machine setups and use precision measuring instruments (gages, calipers, micrometers)
  • Working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics (may include trigonometry)
  • Experience performing statistical process control (SPC)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision and to mentor others
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM)
  • Specialized or certified operator credentials specific to division requirements
