Job Summary
Operate and set up conventional and numerically controlled machining centers to produce precision components for aerospace and high-precision manufacturing. Perform machine operations including cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming while adjusting feeds, speeds, and depth of cut. Inspect parts using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and microscopes to ensure tight tolerances and contribute to lean initiatives for productivity improvements. Complete required documentation such as shop travelers and quality logs. Work onsite on the 2nd shift (1:45pm–11:15pm, Mon–Fri) with a willingness to work overtime or additional shifts as production requires.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of related machining experience, including setup and operation of CNC and manual machines
- Experience operating CNC lathes
- Hands-on setup capability
- Ability to work with limited guidance in a team environment
- Ability to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions
- Familiarity with machine shop mathematics (may include trigonometry)
- Experience using inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, CMM if applicable)
- Applying statistical process control (SPC)
- Familiarity with GD&T
- Familiarity with tight tolerance machining common in aerospace environments
- Willingness to work 2nd shift
- Open to overtime or shift work if production requires it
- High school diploma or equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with MAZAK machine controls and Y-axis machining
- Experience with CAM software (Mastercam, NX, Fusion 360, CATIA)
- G-code programming/editing
- Prior experience in aerospace-regulated manufacturing environments (AS9100, FAI/AS9102)
