Job Summary
Maintains and repairs rail vehicles and systems, performing machine shop work including MIG and TIG welding, precise measurements, and fabrication of parts for the LRV fleet. Diagnoses defects in mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components; calibrates tools and conducts preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs. Reads and applies blueprints and technical drawings, uses lathes, mills, CNC equipment, and welding equipment; records maintenance activity in DART’s Asset Maintenance System. Requires strong problem-solving, safety awareness, and the ability to work variable shifts and travel as needed. Must have an Associate degree or technical certification and a valid driver’s license; physical requirements include lifting up to 70 pounds and operating in a potentially noisy, dusty shop environment.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or certification from an accredited technical program in Machinist Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
