Job Summary
Machinist assembles, repairs and fabricates replacement and new parts by operating mechanical equipment and assembling parts into sub-units or complete units. Responsible for operating metalworking machine tools (lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, bandsaws, drills) to machine parts to specifications, using blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances. Able to read CAD drawings, measure with various tools, and verify finished parts. Also performs routine maintenance, maintains tools, backs up for assembly and warehouse, and provides on-the-job training to new employees.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience
- Ability to operate manual lathes, radial and standard drill presses, VTLs, horizontal boring mills and knee mills
- Ability to read job/machine measuring tools and gauges (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Ability to read technical/CAD drawings
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklift, overhead crane
- Attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Proficiency with computer applications, barcode scanner, adding machine, telephone
