Job Summary
Perform skilled work at the journeyman level in the installation, movement, maintenance, fabrication/construction, and repair of hospital equipment using tools such as lathes, drill presses, cutters, electric arc and gas welders, grinders, drills, rigging, and hand tools. Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to organize work effectively. This role is with Vancouver Coastal Health at Vancouver General Hospital. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check and provide vaccine history records as part of the onboarding process.
Required Qualifications
- Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Machinist or Millwright recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Must complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
- Required to report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections.
