Job Summary
Set up CNC milling machines by installing and adjusting tools, fixtures, and machine settings based on production plans and technical drawings; configure machine parameters such as speeds, feeds, and coolant flow; conduct test runs and make adjustments for accurate production. Read engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine setup requirements; select and install appropriate cutting tools and fixtures; ensure proper alignment and calibration of machine components. Perform initial inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions; document tooling configurations, parameter changes, and deviations; maintain logs of production activities and inspections. Maintain routine CNC maintenance, follow safety protocols, and keep a clean workspace. Collaborate with CNC operators, programmers, and engineers to optimize setups and improve efficiency; provide guidance on setup and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC machining or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in CNC machine setup or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of CNC Milling Machine operations and setup procedures.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and perform detailed inspections.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC programming software.
